FSBI "VGNKI" ORGANIZED THE II INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE IN ARMENIA
From June 7 to 9, Yerevan hosted the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Socially Significant Infections of Farm Animals: Prevention and Control Measures”.
The conference that was organized by the Federal State Budgetary Institution “The Russian State Center for Animal Feed and Drug Standardization and Quality (FSBI "VGNKI"), was held as part of the ongoing research work (R&D) “Creation of means for the prevention of socially significant infections in productive animals based on modern methods of nutrigenomics”. Research is carried out in accordance with Agreement No. 075-15-2022-1124 dated July 1, 2022 on state support for scientific research conducted under the guidance of leading scientists in Russian educational institutions. The event was attended by representatives of the scientific community and co-executors of the megagrant, as well as young scientists of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the National Agrarian University of Armenia. The conference was moderated by Alexander Panin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Advisor to the Director of the VGNKI.
Special guests of the event were representatives of the SNCO “Republican Center for Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services” of the State Food Safety Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia.
On the first day of the conference, reports on the means of preventing socially significant infections in food-producing animals were presented by the leading scientist of the mega-grant, Professor of Microbiology at Kingston University in London, Andrey Karlyshev, Alexander Panin, Research Director at the Alltech European Center for Biological Sciences in Dunboyne, Richard Murphy, employees of the MBA named after. K. I. Skryabina: Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Larisa Gnezdilova and Associate Professor Ilya Nikonov, as well as scientists from the Institute of Engineering Immunology OJSC and Alltech.
On the second day of the conference, during the speeches of the representatives of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VGNKI" and the director of the SNCO "Republican Center for Veterinary, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services" Arman Gevorkyan, issues of ensuring food security and prospects for international cooperation were considered.
On the final day of the conference, the participants visited the Hamakcvac Kereri Gordzaran poultry farm to get acquainted with the infrastructure of scientific and innovative activities and discuss the experiments planned to be carried out by Alltech under the guidance of Professor Richard Murphy.
During the visit, Professor Richard Murphy discussed in detail the impact of the research methods and the latest pro- and prebiotic preparations (and their combinations) on indicators of interest both for industrial poultry farming (zootechnical indicators of rearing) and for food safety (prevalence of pathogenic bacteria, resist ), as well as for fundamental science (metagenomic studies of the poultry microbiome). Metagenomic studies are important to establish and characterize the relationship between research approaches (pro- and prebiotics and their combinations) and poultry productivity, as well as to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance genes.
The materials of the conference reports will be published in a collection with the assignment of ISBN, DOI and placement in the RSCI database.
