VGNKI DELIVERED A REPORT ON THE CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO WORLD RABIES DAY
On October 23, 2024, an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to World Rabies Day took place at the Federal Center for Animal Health (FGBI “ARRIAH”). The event was organized under the patronage of the offices of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in the Russian Federation.
During the conference, Vladimir Borovoy, Deputy Head of the Immuno-Biological Medicinal Products Division of VGNKI, presented the results of an analysis of the provision coverage of immune-biological products for the rabies prevention measures among animals in the Russian Federation over the past three years.
The speaker informed the attendees about Russian biopharmaceutical companies and the list of anti-rabies vaccines produced in the country. Additionally, he provided data on the production dynamics of such vaccines for agricultural, small domestic, and wild carnivorous animals. He noted that domestic vaccines meet both internal requirements and the standards of importing countries.
In conclusion, Vladimir Borovoy addressed the need to expand the range and increase the production volumes of anti-rabies vaccines under the conditions of import substitution.
To sum it up, the conference participants expressed a shared interest in further collaboration among various organizations to support efforts to eliminate and combat rabies worldwide.
