ROSSELKHOZNADZOR COMPLETED INSPECTION OF MEAT PROCESSOR IN BRAZIL
From November 27 to December 8, 2023, a delegation from Rosselkhoznadzor visited the Federative Republic of Brazil to inspect meat processors interested in exporting their products to the Russian market. As part of the working trip, meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Brazil (MAPA). Also, 14 inspections of sites involved in poultry and cattle processing were conducted.
At the first meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Brazil (MAPA), the parties discussed options for establishing partnerships between specialized veterinary institutions in order to determine guidelines for action in terms of ensuring the safety of products of animal origin and monitoring the epizootic situation in the country.
The Brazilian side provided information on the approved activities carried out by the Brazilian veterinary service and animal farms as part of the prevention and elimination of particularly dangerous and contagious animal diseases.
The participants of the meeting who were led by Leonid Kish, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor delegation, Director of the “All-Russian State Centre for Quality and Standardization of Veterinary Drugs and Feed” (FGBU “VGNKI”), also discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of the Brazilian poultry industry, the export and import volumes of livestock products in Brazil for the last three years, as well as a number of issues on veterinary drugs, including vaccines.
During inspections of sites, the Rosselkhoznadzor specialists assessed the work and organization of laboratory control at production, including study of research protocols for raw materials and finished products, as well as regulatory documentation.
At the end of the inspection on December 7, the Rosselkhoznadzor delegation visited one of the Federal Laboratories for Animal and Plant Health (LFDA) to learn about diagnostic techniques for animal and poultry diseases.
At the final meeting with the representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), the parties summarized the results of the inspection and discussed the prospects for further cooperation in organizing production control of enterprises and exports of agricultural products from Brazil to Russia.
