FSBI "VGNKI" PARTICIPATED IN THE MEETING OF NATIONAL OIE COORDINATORS

From 20 to 22 June 2023, Dublin (Ireland) hosted the third meeting of national coordinators of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), which was attended by the Head of the Department for Cooperation with International Organizations and Foreign Scientific Institutions of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “The Russian State Center for Animal Feed and Drug Standardization and Quality (FSBI "VGNKI") Konstantin Ryzhnikov.

More than 50 delegates were guests of the event in order to exchange views and join efforts in addressing issues of animal protection when moving over long distances in the EU, as well as to draw up a work plan in this direction. In addition, during the meeting, the participants got acquainted in detail with the activities of the OIE and the EU, including the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), in terms of improving animal health and welfare.

In the framework of the special session "Scenario of the route of movement in Europe", the delegates considered a number of problems that arise when transporting live animals by sea, and discussed a set of measures aimed at solving them by member countries. The last session of the meeting was devoted to the action plan for 2024-2026 to expand and strengthen cooperation between countries and entities involved in the transport of animals.

In conclusion, the participants stressed the importance of an international exchange of experience in the development of successful policies for the proper control and maintenance of veterinary public health.
