FGBU «VGNKI» conducts both theoretical and applied research aimed at ensuring quality and safety of veterinary drugs, feed, and products of animal and plant origin. It is also engaged in standardization and quality assurance, expert evaluation and certification of veterinary drugs, feed and feed additives, including those containing GMO.

Federal State Budgetary Institution «The Russian State Center for Animal Feed and Drug Standardization and Quality» is the collaborating center of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on Food Safety, Diagnosis and Control on Animal Diseases in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Transcaucasia.

FGBU «VGNKI» was the first to establish a system of veterinary drug certification in Russia. It also developed organizational and methodical documents of the system, including «Veterinary Drug Certification Guidelines».
